About Rose

Rose Grundy

I am a qualified Counsellor, Therapist, EMDR practitioner and Compassionate Mindfulness Trainer.

My Registered and Accredited status within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), means my work has been rigorously assessed to meet a high standard of practice quality, and is fully accountable in line with professional and ethical standards.

I have worked and volunteered as a counsellor and therapist in a diverse variety of charitable organisations – in schools and youth centres, in carers support and hospice care, and most recently in a residential rehabilitation centre, as well as running my own private practice. I have also facilitated mindfulness groups and workshops in a variety of settings, as well as co-managed a small mindful living retreat centre. My work has gifted me a wealth of experience working with both adults and young people from different backgrounds in a range of different formats. I am currently working predominantly as an independent therapist, both in person in Dursley, Gloucestershire and online.

I hold diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Therapy (MBSR & MBCT). I have completed full training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) approved by EMDR-Europe Association and EMDR International Association. I also have further training and experience in a variety of modalities including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Embodied Psychotherapy, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Polyvagal Theory.

Like everything, therapy is evolving over time and as advances are made in psychological, biological and social understanding year after year, therapy is responding, adapting and modernising in line with a multitude of diverse research, studies and experience. I am committed to ongoing training and study, and to keeping abreast of developments within the field of psychology and therapy.

Integral to my work and life is my own personal compassionate mindfulness practice which began over two decades ago, after my first visit to ‘Plum Village’ in France, the home of the now passed Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. I regularly attended retreats and trainings led by ‘Thay’ for many years, and in recent times I have been enjoying developing my personal practice through a variety of groups, trainings, and retreats focusing on mindfulness, compassion and embodiment.
